Privacy Policy
Brite Popup Helper — Chrome extension · Effective 3 September 2026
In short: the extension sends nothing anywhere. It makes no network requests of any kind. Caller details are read from a softphone page you are already signed in to, shown to you on your own screen, and discarded when the call ends.
It arrives with no access to any website. You grant access to your own softphone address, one site at a time, and can withdraw it just as easily.
There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party service of any kind involved.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Brite Popup Helper browser extension for Google Chrome. It does not cover the Brite hosted telephone service itself, or the softphone web application the extension works alongside; those are governed separately by your service agreement with Brite Telecom.
What the extension does
The extension watches the Brite softphone page for an incoming call. When one arrives it opens a small call window and a desktop notification, so the call is noticed when the browser is minimised or another application is in front. Answer and Decline on either alert click the corresponding button on the softphone page.
What information it accesses
When a call rings on the softphone page, the extension reads from that page:
- the caller's telephone number
- the caller's display name, where the network provides one
- which softphone line is ringing
- the time the call arrived
This is the same information already displayed on the softphone page in front of you. The extension reads it in order to show it on the call alert. It accesses no other content on that page, and no content whatsoever on any site you have not explicitly approved — see the next section.
Which sites it can access
None, until you say so. The extension is published with no site access at all: its manifest declares no host permissions and no content scripts. On installation it cannot read any page, including the softphone.
You add your softphone's address yourself, on the extension's options page. Chrome then shows its own permission prompt naming that specific site, and the extension gains access only if you approve it. Access is limited to the addresses you have added. It is never extended to any other site, and the extension never requests access to your browsing in general.
Access can be withdrawn at any time — with the Remove button beside an address on the options page, or from Chrome's own extension settings. Removing an address revokes the site permission and stops the extension running there immediately.
Where that information goes
Nowhere. The extension contains no code that makes a network request — no
fetch, no XMLHttpRequest, no WebSocket, no analytics
beacon. Caller information never leaves your computer.
What is stored, and for how long

One disclosure about the second row: chrome.storage.sync is a
Chrome facility that copies settings between computers where you are signed in
to Chrome with Sync enabled. If you use that feature, your preference choices
are handled by Google as part of Chrome Sync and covered by Google's own
privacy policy. Only the settings listed above are involved — never call
details.
What the extension never does
- It never transmits data. No servers are contacted, including any operated by Brite Telecom.
- It never records or stores call audio. It has no access to your microphone, speakers, or the call media.
- It never keeps a call history. Each call replaces the previous entry and is deleted as soon as the call ends.
- It never sells or shares personal information with anyone, for any purpose, including advertising or profiling.
- It never reads sites you have not approved. It runs only on the softphone addresses you added yourself, and on no other page or tab. It has no access to your browsing history or to any other site.

Chrome Web Store limited use
Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension's handling of data is limited to the single purpose described above: announcing an incoming call to the person receiving it.
Children
This extension is a workplace tool distributed to Brite Telecom staff and customers. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from them.
Removing your data
Uninstalling the extension from Chrome removes everything it holds. There is no server-side copy to request the deletion of, because none is ever created.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes affecting how information is handled will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
